The NEW Audi A4 and Sporty S4 Variant

Audi have released details of their upcoming A4 facelift, featuring new interior enhancements and a fresh external face.

 

The new A4 gets a style revamp with the latest design language from Audi. New headlights get LEDs as standard, with styling reminiscent of the A1 supermini, whilst the taillight design tips it’s hat to the new A6. The shoulders of the car feature a distinctive cut that enhances the profile of the wheel arches and adds drama to the overall design.

 

Inside, the car gets Audi’s new MIB 3 modular infotainment platform and a 10.1-inch MMI touch display. The display removes conventional buttons in replace of touch inputs and natural language voice control, which has a greater understand of everyday phrases. Every trim gets a 12.3-inch virtual cockpit as standard, operated using the multifunction steering wheel.

 

There will be a range of engines available on the A4, starting with a 150PS 35 TFSI unit. Later on in the car’s production, two turbocharged units, one producing 136PS (the 30 TDI), and another making 163PS (the 35 TDI). The most powerful engines will get Quattro all-wheel drive, whilst three variants get a mild-hybrid system to aid fuel economy, performance and refinement.

 

The fast S4 variant will see a 3.0L V6 diesel engine paired to an electric compressor, which will enhance the car’s throttle response and acceleration. 0-62mph will take just 4.8 seconds, thanks to a hefty serving of 347PS and 700Nm of torque. Whilst the top speed will be electronically limited to 155mph, the model gets permanent Quattro all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The S4 will also get quad-exhaust tailpipes, ‘S’ suspension and a unique ‘S Mode’ in the virtual cockpit.

As always, Audi will be making an A4 Allroad Quattro, which increases the ride height of the Avant by 35 millimetres and offers Quattro all-wheel drive as standard. It will also include underbody protection and a wider track by 6mm at the front and 11mm at the back.
